Top Arts & Crafts Classes And Activities For Kids In Miami

Exposing children to artistic endeavors has been shown to help their brains grow and leads them toward a cultured and well-rounded adulthood. Art and crafts are also just plain fun and a great way for your kids to socialize. Miami is the perfect place to get them out, get them messy and let their brilliance shine.

Once a month, the Bass Museum has an afternoon filled with arts and crafts activities just for families. Art supplies and prizes are even included. Classes vary, but are often based on a current museum exhibit. Previous activities have included creating masks and designing beautiful Greek vases. Classes run the last Sunday of the month from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Beaux offers art classes including drawing, painting and ceramics for children ages 5 to 12 years old. Classes are geared toward introducing students to the concepts and do not require current art skills. Miami Children's Museum boasts classes for parents and their children between the ages of 8 months and 3.5 years old. Prices are divided into 11-week spring and winter sessions. Hour-long classes are offered Tuesday and Wednesday mornings between 9:30 a.m. to 11:45 a.m.

MOCA offers opportunities for preschoolers to work on art projects with their parents and for kids ages 6 to 12 to take art classes on the first Saturday of every month from September to June. MOCA's summer program for 6 to 12 year olds brings out the mini Picasso in every kid. Professional educators teach children the value of art, fundamental concepts and how to create basic pieces.

Art Camp is geared toward 6 to 14 year olds with no expectation that your child have prior art skills, making it a great introduction to the world of art, painting and drawing. Classes at Artcenter provide students opportunities to create jewelry, mosaics, take basic drawing classes and learn their way around an art studio.
