Miami Mayor Fined For Sloppy Books During Campaign

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Miami Mayor Tomas Regalado and his daughter Raquel have been fined $10,000 for sloppy book-keeping work during his 2009 run for office.

A year long investigation by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement and the Miami-Dade State Attorney's Office found tens of thousands of dollars appeared on the campaign finance without listing where the money had come from.

The investigation concluded that missing information was mainly a technical error and didn't amount to a crime.

Regalado and Raquel, who acted as the campaign treasurer, were each fined $5,000.

Raquel Regalado recently paid additional fines for campaign finance errors in her run for the Miami-Dade School Board.
