Gators, 'Noles Win NCAA Tourney Slots

MIAMI (CBS4) - Floridians have two teams to root for as college basketball fans count down to the start of March Madness. Both the Florida Gators and the FSU Seminoles were picked as part of the 68 teams with a chance to win it all in the NCAA Tourney.

The #7 ranked Gators were paired up with #10 Virginia in round one of the West Division, in Phoenix.

The #3 ranked Seminoles will play #14 St Bonaventure in the first round of the East division in Boston.

Overall, Kentucky, Syracuse and North Carolina all earned top seeding for the NCAA tournament despite weekend losses that brought even more intrigue to the three-week, 67-game tournament.

Michigan State earned the other No. 1 seed today and is the only one of the four top-billed teams to win its conference tournament.

Next up, the NCAA tournament that starts with first-round games Tuesday.

That's the first step en route to the Final Four, which begins March 31 in New Orleans.
