"The Hunger Games" Stars Come To S. Florida

PLANTATION (CBSMiami) – If you're a fan of the young-adult novel "The Hunger Games" and you weren't at the Westfield Broward Mall in Plantation Thursday night, you missed your chance to meet some of the stars.

As part of an eight-city nationwide tour, three stars of the upcoming big-screen adaptation of the trilogy's first book  met fans and participated in a Q&A at the Westfield Broward Mall in Plantation. Fans were lined up outside the mall near University Drive and Broward Boulevard well before dawn on Thursday.

Jennifer Lawrence, Alexander Ludwig and Amandla Stenberg were onstage for the live Q&A with fans. The event, which includes entertainment and giveaways, was free and open to the public.

The mall also gave away some VIP passes so if you didn't already get yours, you are out of luck.

Based on a series of novels by Suzanne Collins, The Hunger Games is set in the future in the fictional nation of Panem, and stars Jennifer Lawrence as Katniss Everdeen, a teen who represents her district in an annual fight to the death game called The Hunger Games. The best-seller focuses on the teen girl's struggle for survival in a post-apocalyptic future.

The film opens in theaters March 23.

In addition to Lawrence, Ludwig plays Cato and Stenberg plays Rue. Other cast members include Josh Hutcherson, Woody Harrelson, Lenny Kravitz, Stanley Tucci and Donald Sutherland.
