Abandoned, Injured Dog Named Lola Needs Loving Home

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – UPDATE ON LOLA:  Lola, a severely injured dog found on a remote property in Southwest MIami-Dade, along with 11 starving horses, is not recovering at the Animal Rescue Mission. Lola is currently under veterinarian care at the Summit Boulevard Animal Hospital in West Palm Beach.

Lola was brought to the animal hospital by Amy Restucci, founder of the 100+ Abandoned Dogs of Everglades organization, according to Dr. Iyampillai Arun, a veterinarian at the Summit Boulevard Animal Hospital who spoke to CBSMiami.com on Thursday.

Originally taken to Miami-Dade Animal Services, Restucci rescued Lola and brought her to Dr. Arun's office.

Lola is being treated for severe bite wounds, ear mites and other health issues. Once she's healthy enough, she'll be spayed and placed up for adoption.

A severely injured dog found on a remote property in Southwest Miami-Dade, along with 11 starving horses, continues to recover and will need a loving home once she's well enough to be adopted.

It's believed the American Bulldog/Boxer mix, named Lola, was used as a bait dog for fighting.

The injured dog's wounds were so severe she could not walk and had to be carried off the property.

The rescue organization, Animal Recovery Mission, is caring for Lola but said she will be available for adoption as soon as she is healthy enough. (see update above).

The starving horses, meantime, are recovering at the SPCA's rescue barn in Hialeah.

Two additional horses were spotted running wild in the same remote area but rescuers were not able to catch them Tuesday. They plan to bring more people out to corral the horses.
