Marlins Outfield Sculpture May Be An Issue

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Ever since it was first revealed, the "sculpture" built in left-centerfield at Marlins Park has been controversial, mainly due to its look. But it's not fans that may change the sculpture, instead it may be left-handed hitters.

Marlins hitters say the sculpture could give left-handed batters facing right-handed sidearm pitchers a big headache.

"If it is an issue, it can no longer be there," Marlins utility player Greg Dobbs told CBS4 news partner the Miami Herald. "I won't be the only left-handed hitter saying something. If other teams have a problem with it, they're definitely going to voice their concern to the league."

Marlins officials said it's not going to be an issue. The sculpture will be activated at various points throughout the game, typically after a Marlins home run.
