MIAMI (CBSMiami) – If you live on South Beach, get ready for an influx of spring breakers.

According to the Miami New Times, Miami (and the South Beach area) is the top U.S. destination for college students to blow off pent up steam.

The study, conducted by STA Travel, top travel agency for college students, shows that Miami is number three on the list, behind Cancun, Mexico and Punta Cana, Dominican Republic.

In years past, Miami has not enjoyed top spring break status in Florida. The honor instead going to Panama City Beach, Daytona Beach, and Fort Lauderdale.

But the fact that the Winter Music Conference and Ultra Music Festival coincide with many college’s spring breaks may have tipped the scales on SoBe’s favor.
