Small Water Main Break Impacts NW Miami-Dade Traffic
MIAMI (CBSMiami) – In what is quickly becoming a common occurrence in Miami-Dade County, a small water main broke Friday evening in the northwestern part of the county.
The water main break happened near the intersection of NW 171st Terrace and 87th Avenue.
CBS4's Natalia Zea said neighbors believed crews had been working in the area and had just put in new asphalt recently.
"Wow, that's something strange, we've never had that around this area," said neighbor Willie Suarez. "That's something irregular, we've never seen around here that's for sure."
The water was shooting up in the air in a narrow stream for a while, but luckily most of the water was flowing into a large ditch near the break.
No homes have seen any water get onto their property.
Crews managed to shut the flow of water off temporarily around 10:20 p.m. Friday, but then water started flowing again at 10:51 p.m.
