NORTHWEST MIAMI-DADE (CBS4) – A Northwest Miami-Dade neighborhood became a scary scene Monday afternoon after a man reported to police that a possible grenade was found on the sidewalk.

The Miami-Dade Police Bomb Squad responded to the scene on the 1400 block of NW 102 Street and immediately roped off the area.

Police did not evacuate the scene while then investigated, instead told neighbors to stay inside their homes.

Northwest 102 Street was blocked off from 14th to 15th Avenue while bomb squad members detonated the device.

Police have not commented on what the device contained. They do say it is not am army issued grenade, but rather an improvised one.
