MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Baseball season is right around the corner.
On Saturday, fans of the University of Miami team got a chance to get up close with the players at the annual Canes Fest at the Light.
Miami will open their season on Friday when they host Rutgers. As always, coach Jim Morris, said expectations are high.
“We got a lot of new players, some good players returning, so I think we have a good combination,” said Morris. “Our pitching staff and our starters are very established and I feel very good about. I think we’ll have a chance at having a pretty good club.”
The UM’s baseball team was ranked 13th in the preseason USA Today/ESPN Top 25 Coaches’ Poll. The University of Florida topped the rankings, Florida State was ranked ninth.
