Lauderdale Man Accused Of Shooting Pregnant Ex-Girlfriend Captured

FT. LAUDERDALE (CBSMiami) – A Ft. Lauderdale man on the run after he reportedly shot the mother of his unborn child, and killed her older sister, last month has been taken into custody.

Burnie Reed, 19, was found hiding under a massive pile of clothes and furniture in the rear bedroom of a Lauderhill home in the 3400 block of NW 4th Court.

When officers tried to arrest him, police said he refused to comply with their commands and got aggressive.

After a brief struggle, they were able to slap the handcuffs on and cart him off to jail where he's been charged with one count of murder, one count of attempted murder and two counts of resisting arrest.

According to investigators, on January 21st, around 11 p.m., Reed got into a fight with his pregnant ex-girlfriend, 19-year old Chutney McNair, the 1100 block of NW 11th Street. As the fight grew more heated, McNair's older sister Bianca tried to come to her rescue.

"Bianca McNair was on the street, she was shot in the head, later she died at the hospital," read the judge Thursday. "Chutney McNair, who is allegedly your girlfriend and 3 months pregnant with your baby was located across the street. She was also shot in the head."

Both women were rushed to Broward General Medical Center where Bianca died. Detectives were anxious to captured Reed because he reportedly threatened to kill Chutney and her family.
