Gingrich Slams Romney As Ex-Gov. Returns To S. Fla.

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – In the final days of campaigning before Tuesday's pivotal Florida primary, Republican presidential candidate Newt Gingrich is calling rival Mitt Romney a "pro-abortion, pro-gun control, pro-tax increase liberal."

Gingrich made the comments Sunday outside a church in Lutz., Fla.

Gingrich is trailing Romney in Florida and has been labeling the former governor a Massachusetts moderate. Now Gingrich is adding the liberal tag to his criticism of his 2012 rival.

Gingrich also went after Romney during two television interviews Sunday morning. He said Romney "has a basic policy of carpet bombing his opponent" and that the "old establishment" in the party is trying to block Gingrich's path to nomination.

Both Gingrich and Romney are making campaign stops in Florida Sunday.

In addition to his appearance in Lutz, Gingrich held a rally at The Villages, which will be followed by an appearance in Jacksonville.

Mitt Romney is the only Republican presidential candidate campaigning in South Florida on Sunday.

Romney will make two stops in Hialeah and in Pompano Beach.

At 3:45 p.m., Romney will be at Casa Marin Restaurant, 4195 Palm Ave., where he will be introduced to the crowd by U.S. Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-Miami).

Romney will then head to Pompano Beach for a 6:30 p.m. supporters rally at the Emma Lou Olson Civic Center, 1801 N.E. Sixth St.

The public can attend both events.
