Broward Woman Arrested For Shovel Beating
FORT LAUDERDALE (CBSMiami) – A Broward County woman faces charges of attempted felony murder for her alleged role in the beating of a woman with a shovel.
According to the Broward Sheriff's Office, Shirlina Denise Cunningham, 25, along with two other men allegedly beat a woman unconscious in unincorporated Ft. Lauderdale.
The trio allegedly used a shovel during the beating and hit the victim so many times the shovel broke during the beating. During a bond hearing Tuesday, Judge John Hurley said there were several witnesses to the alleged beating.
The victim had to be put on a respirator due to the severity of the beating, Judge Hurley read in court, and the victim was unconscious for a while.
But, once the victim was awake, the victim identified Cunningham as the alleged attacker.
Cunningham was given a bond of more than $150,000 and faces charges of attempted murder and giving a false identity to a law enforcement officer.
