This course is designed for childcare and foster care workers, teachers, camp counselors and coaches.  Parents with young children and adolescents are also highly encouraged to attend.  This course will give you the education and confidence you need to effectively care for children in an emergency until professional help arrives.  Topics include:  first aid basics, medical emergencies and CPR with Automated External Defibrillator (AED).  Participants will receive an American Heart Association Heartsaver CPR and Pediatric First Aid Course Completion Card.   Please call 305-662-8282 to register.

Diet and Cooking Tips for Patients on Dialysis 03/07/2012

Individuals living with dialysis are often concerned about following a renal diet low in phosphorous, potassium and salt.   A cooking demonstration will be offered to showcase how to prepare meals for patients receiving dialysis treatment who must adhere to this type of diet.   The demonstration is a collaboration of the Miami Children's Hospital hemodialysis unit with the support of a pediatric social worker, registered dietitian and the staff of the Michael Fux Family Center.   To register for this free event, please e-mail

March is National Nutrition Month.  The Department of Adolescent Medicine in conjunction with the Department of Food and Nutrition present "Get Your Plate in Shape" with a live cooking demonstration provided by Whole Foods Market.  Come learn quick, easy, healthy meals and tips to add more color and nutrition to your plate.  Dietiticians will be available to answer nutrition questions.   All attendees will be entered into a raffle for great prizes.   Please call 305-662-8282 to register.
