Wondering If Disney Wonder Is Coming To S. Fla.

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Disney Cruise Line has scheduled a news conference in Miami next week and that has some people "wondering" if the Disney Wonder is coming to South Florida.

Stewart Chiron of Miami-based CruiseGuy.com recently speculated that all signs were pointing to a South Florida deployment for Disney Wonder - most likely from Port of Miami.

Disney recently cancelled four sailings from Los Angeles to Mexico scheduled for Dec. 2012.

Rebecca Peddie, manager of public affairs for Disney Cruise Lines, said those cancellations are a direct effect of a new itinerary in the works for the Disney Wonder in 2013, but the new itinerary won't be announced until sometime later in the year. All Peddie would say was that "we're always looking to bring the ship to new places."

There's also speculation about whether there's even room for the Wonder at Port Canaveral because the Disney Fantasy will debut there in March and join sister ship Disney Dream.

Disney Magic, the fourth ship in Disney fleet, splits time between New York City and Galveston, Texas sailing on Bahamas, Canada and New England itineraries.

Disney's news conference is scheduled for Wednesday Jan. 18th at the JW Marriott Marquis in Miami.
