Teen Arrested, Charged In Miramar High Stabbing
South Florida Crime
MIRAMAR (CBS4)-An 18-year-old girl was arrested and charged in the stabbing of a Miramar High female student Thursday, police said.
Tatyana Brown, a student at the school, was charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, Miramar Police spokeswoman Tania Rues said Friday. As of Friday afternoon, Brown bonded out of jail.
It was a scene of chaos at the end of a long school day Thursday at the school.
The victim’s uncle identified the victim as 15-year-old Kiana Henry, who was stabbed in a parking lot of an apartment complex about a block from campus. Henry was in serious condition and was transported to Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital.
“I looked and she was sliced, she was just sliced,” Henry’s best friend said.
A fight began with an argument in the cafeteria hours earlier, Henry’s best friend said.
“They got into an argument in the cafeteria about…I don’t know what the argument was about, but somebody talking about somebody,” her friend said. “That’s what it was about. Then they saw each other at the school, started fighting. She got beat up. She stabbed her.”
Henry’s uncle said his niece called him and he arrived on scene to break up the fight.
“They were fighting,” he said. “Her and the girl got into an altercation. The girl ended up on the ground. She stabbed her two times, once in the arm. I broke it up.”
Her uncle said she is doing OK, but was complaining about breathing.
“We have two girls… two female students that are being questioned in connection with this stabbing,” Tania Rues with Miramar Police Department said.
Rues said Henry received puncture wounds.
From Chopper 4, what appeared to be a girl with a pony-tail and hoodie was seen in the back seat of a Miramar police car.
Broward schools spokesperson Nadine Drew said school officials were unaware of a problem in campus, but knew of an incident off campus.
