Bond Set For Man Charged With Torturing, Killing Kitten

FORT LAUDERDALE (CBSMiami) – Bond has been set at $30,000 for a South Florida man charged with torturing and killing a kitten and domestic violence.

Richard Andres, of Hollywood, appeared in Fort Lauderdale bond court Friday.

According to the Broward County Sheriff's Office, Andres' wife Jennifer Andres said that Richard became upset that the kitten had scratched him, though she told police she never saw the alleged scratch.

The police report said that Richard "began to hit the kitten repeatedly with closed fists and also slamming it against the walls of the residences."

BSO said that the kitten then began to make noises and Andres allegedly beat it more. Andres allegedly threw the kitten out of the house and it didn't move.

Andres then allegedly threw the kitten in a hole to bury it and then dug up the kitten.

According to Jennifer Andres, Andres then took the kitten back to the bathroom where she said she heard "things banging against the sink and tub area mainly."

The kitten was finally buried in the back yard, according to BSO.

Jennifer Andres told deputies that she waited to contact authorities until Andres finally left because she was in fear for her life after Andres had "previously battered the victim."

Richard Andres was arrested on charges of assault domestic violence and animal cruelty.
