Miami Police Seek Gunman Who Killed Up & Coming Singer

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Miami Police are still looking for the gunman who shot and killed a young woman sitting in an SUV with several of her friends.

The woman has been identified as 21-year-old Diana Louissant. Sources and friends told CBS4's Peter D'Oench that Louissant was an up and coming singer who went by the stage name of "Reality."

The shooting took place shortly before 6:00 p.m. Thursday.

Miami Police Sgt. Freddie Cruz said Louissant was sitting in a red Chevrolet SUV with three other people outside a home on the 59-hundred block of NE 5th Avenue when a man approached them and began shooting.

"This group of individuals were arriving at this home. When they arrived they were met by a black male, tall wearing a brown hat, he fired seven maybe eight shots into the vehicle, fatally hitting one of the passengers in the vehicle," said Sgt. Cruz. "She was struck twice."

The suspect then fled the scene in an unknown direction possibly in a dark colored or black vehicle.

Sources told D'Oench that Louissant was robbed recently and she and her friends may have spotted that suspect on a bicycle. They confronted him and he took off. Sources said it may have been that same man who came back 15 minutes later and opened fire on the vehicle.

Police said they do have a good description of the suspect.

Anyone with information is urged to contact the Miami Police Homicide Unit at (305) 603-6350 or Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at (305) 471-TIPS (8477).
