Woman Facing Charges After Donated Toys Stolen In Fla.

WINTER HAVEN, Fla. (CBS4/AP) — A woman who allegedly stole toys from a donation box at a pizza shop is facing grand theft charges after authorities in central Florida said tips from the public led them to her.

Polk County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Carrie Eleazer said the 27-year-old woman was already in jail on an unrelated theft charge. Detectives interviewed her after getting a tip that she may have been the woman in a video from the Polk City restaurant released by the sheriff's office.

Eleazer said the woman confessed to taking the donated toys and told detectives she left the toys with a friend. Investigators have recovered some of the toys and are searching for the rest.

The woman now faces an additional grand theft charge. Her first court appearance was Saturday.
