Burger King Gives Away New, Thicker Fries For Free

MIAMI (CBS4)- Miami-based Burger King wants consumers to try its new French- fry formula, and to entice fry lovers their giving it away free on Friday.

The company is promoting the new fries on by giving away $1 portions for free as part of their "Free Fries Friday" promotion. No purchase necessary, while supplies last, the company said.

The second largest burger chain introduced the new recipe in its more than 7,000 North American Restaurants.

This is the first recipe change for burger king since 1998.

The new fries will cost the same, but are thicker and have less sodium. They also have a coating designed to make them crispier and stay hotter longer, the company said.

"A thicker cut of potato gives each bite more fluffy, potato flavor on the inside and crispy, golden-brown deliciousness on the outside," the company stated in a press release.
