MIAMI (CBSMiami.com) – The Marlins franchise has had little to cheer about in recent years, except for the fun-natured, round mound of plus-sized cheerleaders known as the Manatees.
But, say it ain’t so; those days look to be over.
According to the Miami New Times, the Manatees will not be invited to be with the franchise next season.
In addition, the New Times reports that the Mermaids, the team’s female cheerleading corps will no longer be with the team.
Some of the guys have tipped the scales at roughly 400 pounds, but they all put every ounce of that into their performances.
A Facebook group has been started called Save the Manatees to try and get the Marlins to reconsider their decision.
