S. Fla. Pearl Harbor Survivor Recalls Fateful Day

AVENTURA (CBS4) - Abe Stein says he still remembers the attack on Pearl Harbor, "like it was yesterday."

The 91 year old Aventura resident is one of the only Pearl Harbor survivors in South Florida.

He was working at a military hospital in Hawaii at the time of the attack.

"I was fast asleep when my bed started to shake," he said.

A short time later he says everybody learned of the attack.

"Tears came to every one of us and we said 'oh my God we're finished' we thought it would be the end but thank God it wasn't the end."

Stein told CBS4's Maggie Newland that the experience changed his life.

"We lost our youth," Stein said.
