Student Recovering After Beating At Basketball Game

MIAMI (CBS4)- The family of a Coral Reef High School student is speaking out following a basketball brawl that landed their teenage boy in intensive care.

Christopher Lardner's jaw is wired shut after he was involved in a fight after a basketball game at Coral Reef High School last Wednesday.

Lardner, 17, has a broken jaw, a broken nose and his eyes were swollen shut.

On Tuesday, CBS4 News spoke with his parents. His father Edward Lardner said he wants answers.

"Why did you keep hitting him?" he asked. "I mean one more punch could've been the last one."

Lardner's sister Angela said on Wednesday night she said her brother attended a basketball game at school.

After the game, "the athletic director called us and told us that Christopher was being rushed to the hospital that there was a fight that broke out that Christopher got involved in and he got really hurt."

When her family arrived at Kendall Regional Medical Center, Angela said her younger brother was hardly recognizable.

"This is really hard, really, really hard because this is my brother and I don't want to see him like this. I can't even look at him really. It's just really, really sad," said Angela.

Two people were arrested in connection with the beating.

Their identities have not been released.

Lardner left Kendall Regional Medical Center and is at home recovering with his family.
