Miami Activists Stage Protests At Congressional Offices

WASHINGTON D.C. (CBSMiami) – Dozens of South Florida activists who traveled to our nation's Capitol on Monday to take part in a week long protest, staged sit-in at the offices of one of Florida's Senators.

The activists, mostly from the group 1Miami, said they held peaceful protest at the office of Senator Marco Rubio because of his failure to serve and listen to the vast majority of their constituents.

The group demanded that Rubio stop playing partisan politics at the expense of the people.   They pointed out that he, along with Rep. Mario Diaz-Balart, repeatedly voted down job-creation legislation in favor of protecting tax cuts for millionaires and big businesses.

The 150 activists from South Florida are in Washington D.C., along with thousands of other protesters from across the country, for a series of "Take Back Our Capitol" rallies at various locations in the city through December 8th.
