Thunderbirds To Headline 2012 Lauderdale Air Show

FT. LAUDERALE (CBSMiami) – After a four-year hiatus, organizers of a new air show over Ft. Lauderdale beach have lined up a premier headline act.

On Monday, the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds confirmed that they will perform at the 2012 Lauderdale Air Show on April 28th and 29th.

"America's Air Show is back," said Bryan Lilley, president of the Lauderdale Air Show. "We are honored that the Thunderbirds have awarded us a date on their 2012 schedule."

The Thunderbirds are the U.S. Air Force's elite aerial demonstration team, currently touring in
their 57th year.

The Thunderbirds will headline each day's four-hour line up which will featured some of the best civilian and military acts in the nation. Four civilian acts have already committed to the show; the Black Diamond Jet Team, GEICO Skytypers, 2011 Freestyle Aerobatic World Champion Rob Holland and Miss GEICO, winner of six straight world champion titles in the Extreme Turbine class.

The show will be centered at A1A and Sunrise Boulevard where a display village will be set up.

After the show on Saturday, there will be an 'After Show Party' at 4 p.m. and a beach party at 7 p.m., the locations for each to be announced at a later date. On Sunday, there will also be two after show parties. All of the parties will be open to the public.
