MIAMI (CBSMiami.com) – The Florida International Panthers finished off the regular season with the best record in school history.
The Panthers will follow it up with the second-straight bowl appearance.
Sunday night, FIU accepted an invitation to play in the Beef O’ Brady’s St. Petersburg Bowl against the Marshall Thundering Herd on December 20th.
FIU was selected by the bowl after UConn lost to Cincinnati and failed to become bowl eligible.
The bowl has deals in place to select teams from Conference USA and the Big East.
Since the Big East didn’t have enough teams, FIU was selected with an at-large bid.
FIU played in and won its first-ever bowl game last season when it knocked off the Toledo Rockets 34-32.
Tickets for FIU’s bowl can be purchased through the university. FIU hopes to sell out its allotment of roughly 5,000 tickets.
