FIU Tops Middle Tennessee, 31-8

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (AP) — Wes Carroll threw two touchdown passes and Florida International set a single-season program record for victories with a 31-18 win over Middle Tennessee on Saturday.

FIU (8-4, 5-3 Sun Belt Conference) got off to a 7-0 lead on a 5-yard pass from Carroll to Jon Faucher. Carroll connected with T.Y. Hilton on a 2-yard touchdown pass in the third quarter as the lead grew to 21-6. Hilton's touchdown catch tied him for the single-season school record with seven.

Kendrick Rhodes rushed for 117 yards and a touchdown for FIU, which ends the regular season on a three-game winning streak. .

Middle Tennessee outgained FIU in total yards 393-324. The Blue Raiders (2-9, 1-6) passed for 291 yards — 147 by Logan Kilgore and 144 by Jeff Murphy.

The Blue Raiders, who end the season Dec. 3 against North Texas, have lost five in a row.
