Dog Belonging To Deceased Teen Stolen From Hialeah Gardens Shop

HIALEAH GARDENS (CBSMiami) - A South Florida family is distraught after their dog was stolen from their shop. It is especially devastating because the Yorkshire Terrier belonged to their daughter, who was recently killed in car accident.

Jorge Lopez, who owns a sewing shop in Hialeah Gardens, had taken the dog to work with him and his wife on Monday.

At one point, they noticed the dog had disappeared.

After watching a neighboring business owner's surveillance video, a man wearing a pink shirt is seen walking away from the shopping center with the dog.

The dog belonged to their daughter, Jennifer Nicole Lopez, 15, who was killed in January when she was hit by a SUV while walking home from school. Another teen was also killed.

The family says they take the dog everywhere because it's a daily reminder of their late daughter.

"I just want someone to have some mercy," cried Lopez. "I'm willing to give a thousand dollars reward no questions asked. It means love and peace for the rest of our lives."

Anyone with information is urged to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at (305) 471-TIPS.
