Car Sought In Deadly Palmetto Expressway Hit & Run

MIAMI (CBSMiami) - The Florida Highway Patrol is looking for a car thought to be involved in a hit & run which killed an elderly woman on the Palmetto Expressway (SR 826) Friday afternoon.

FHP Spokesperson Joe Sanchez an elderly couple, identified by family members as Juan and Marta Miranda, were traveling southbound on SR 826 when they were rear-ended just south of NW 74th.

The couple's car spun out of control and came to a stop against a concrete wall.

Juan Miranda was taken to the hospital in an ambulance, his wife Marta was airlifted to the hospital, where she later died.

Family members tell CBS4 that Juan and Marta Miranda were married for 54 years, and Marta's birthday was Christmas Day. She would have been 74.

Police are looking for a dark colored, medium size, 200o model car with right front damage.
