Postal Worker Attacked During Hialeah Deliveries

HIALEAH (CBSMiami) - A mail carrier delivering the mail to the people who live on NW 12th street in Hialeah was delivered to the hospital Thursday morning, after she was apparently attacked by a man who smashed her head with a pistol.

The attack happened in the 100 block of NW 12th Avenue around 11:30 a.m., as the postal worker was working her route in the area, according to US Postal Service inspector Blad Rojo.

Rojo said two men attacked the carrier, whose name was not immediately available, and one hit her in the head with a pistol. The other suspect waited in a car.

The two men took a necklace and all of her keys, Rojo Said, then fled in a dark sedan

The name of the mail carrier was not immediately available. From Chopper 4, it was clear she was suffering a head injury, as paramedics had bandaged her head. As she waited to be taken to the hospital by Hialeah Fire-Rescue ambulance, she could be seen waving to people, and appeared to be in good condition.
