Radio Calls Released In Lauderhill Police Officer Shooting
LAUDERHILL (CBS4) - The urgent police radio call came in around 7 pm Saturday night from Inverness Plaza in Lauderhill.
Lauderhill Officer Brittny Skinner screamed that she needs help. Immediately.
"Have units respond over here, please, please, please," she begged the police dispatcher.
Skinner decided to drive to the police station, which was only a short distance away. But she continued breathlessly speaking with the dispatcher.
"Shots fired into my vehicle. Please Oh my God, help me," she said.
At first, Skinner had no idea if a bullet struck her.
"I don't know, just help me please. I don't know," she said on the radio call.
Moments later word came from an unidentified male police officer that Skinner was ok.
"She is not hit, she is not hit," the man said.
In fact, a bullet struck the back of Skinner's bulletproof vest but she was not injured.
Lauderhill Police say Officer Kristopher Bieger had just shot up Skinner's marked unit. Police reports show the pair dated for several months until Skinner ended the relationship, claiming Bieger became controlling and constantly harassed her.
Police say Bieger was irate and tried to kill his fellow officer while she sat in her marked patrol unit outside a closed restaurant.
On the police radio calls, it's clear officers quickly identified Bieger as a suspect. Police reports show Skinner told investigators she could see that Bieger was the person who shot her. Officers are heard giving out the make and model of Bieger's truck and contacting police in the city where Bieger's family lives.
Reports indicate Bieger called several fellow officers and family members after the shooting. More than one officer told police that Bieger was suicidal and asked for ammunition so he could end his life.
Bieger is being held in the Broward County Jail without bond. He is charged with attempted murder.
