Clemens' Son Abandons Puerto Rico Team

MIAMI (CBSMiami.com) – Koby Clemens, son of former Major League Baseball pitcher Roger Clemens, may not play again this year for his team in the Caribbean Baseball Confederation.

According to Primer Ahora, the Mayaguez Indians filed paperwork with the league that Clemens left his team and the League of Professional Baseball of Puerto Rico without "justifiable reasons."

Clemens reportedly left the island after the kidnapping of the Washington Nationals' Wilson Ramos in Venezuela. Primer Ahora reported that early rumors were that Roger Clemens had asked his son to leave the island.

However, according to the owner of the Indians, the elder Clemens had "tried unsuccessfully to persuade his son to remain" with his team in Puerto Rico.

Clemens was on the active roster with the team and had compiled a .188 average with one RBI, according to Primer Ahora.
