Police Seek School Athletic Director Accused Of Fondling Girl

MIAMI - (CBSMiami.com) -- Miami-Dade police continue the search for the athletic director at a private school who is facing allegations that he had unlawful sexual conduct with a 12-year-old girl.

Police identified the suspect Tuesday as 29-year-old Paul Michael Mira who worked at Archimedean Middle Conservatory- Archimedean Upper Conservatory at 12425 Southwest 72nd Street.

Now, police say Mira is on the lam and are asking for the public's help in finding him.

Parent Ivette Pinto said she knows Mira well.

"I think he's a great man. I have nothing but respect for him, but we can't put aside the allegations being made, they have to be investigated," Pinto said.

Police did not say if the 12-year-old girl was a student at the school, however they did say that "he is wanted in connection to an investigation whereby he used his position to engage in unlawful sexual conduct with a 12 year old female."

In addition, police say Mira has made threats to kill himself. Mira stands five-feet, two-inches and was last seen driving a 2004 White Chrysler Crossfire.

Archimedean Schools Director Dr. George Kafkoulis released this statement Tuesday afternoon:

"Archimedean Schools has suspended the teacher with pay until the conclusion of the police investigation. We are waiting for the conclusion of the investigation."
