Police Seek Hit & Run Driver Who Hit Boy On Bicycle

NORTH MIAMI BEACH (CBS4)- Police in North Miami Beach are looking for a driver who crashed into a 12-year-old boy on a bicycle before taking off.

According to police, the accident happened around 4:45 p.m. Friday in front of a Tires R Us store near the 1500 block of NE 163rd Street.

An employee, Oscar Boveda, witnessed the crash and said a red mustang plowed into the boy.

Boveda said the boy flew in the air and landed dazed and injured in the street.

Boveda said he wants the driver to come forward.

"I hope he turns himself in," he said. "Doing a hit and run isn't really the way to go. It makes him look even worse doing that."

The boy was taken to Memorial Regional Hospital.

Anyone with information regarding the hit and run driver is asked to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS.
