Canes Suspend Ray-Ray Armstrong

MIAMI (CBSMiami.com) – Athletes continue to find out that social media can allow them to connect, but it can also get them in trouble. The latest athlete to find this out is Miami Hurricanes safety, Ray-Ray Armstrong.

The safety decided to reveal what he was doing and who he was with Sunday night and now, he's been suspended for this weekend's game against Florida State and possibly longer.

Armstrong tweeted, "Just left Prime 112 wit @arinicolelife never seen a chicken this big." Armstrong was with Ari Washington of the Double Coverage PR Group who works with pro athletes.

"That's the extent of it right now," Head coach Al Golden told CBS4 news partner the Miami Herald. "We're trying to learn more about it. It's as simple as that. It's a violation of team policy – what we term conduct detrimental. He won't be with us and we'll reevaluate when we come back from Tallahassee."

The suspension was first reported by insidetheu.com Wednesday evening.

By Armstrong admitting he was at a nice restaurant with the company he was in, it's possible he could miss the entire season.

The Canes can't allow any player to be caught in a similar scenario to Nevin Shapiro's scandal, especially with the NCAA still investigating the program.
