Foul Play Not Ruled Out In N. Miami Boy's Disappearance

NORTH MIAMI (CBSMiami.com) – North Miami Police plan to visit local schools Monday to gather information about a missing 11 year old boy, Ishmyel Jean.

"They're gonna hit the different schools in the area to see if they can speak to those kids out there to see if they've seen anything over the weekend," said Naome Gervais, Ishmyel's mother.

Investigators say they are looking at all options and have not ruled out foul play.

Ishmyel Jean left his house around 7 p.m. after he was "disciplined by his mother for getting into trouble at school." He was allowed to walk to his grandmother's house one block away in the 1100 block of NW 126 Street. But, police said Ishmyel never made it.

After an extensive search of the neighborhood, which included all known friends and classmates, Jean was still missing.

"It's very devastating because I see it on the news all the time about parents who have lost their kids or their kids have run away or disapeared and you know after the 3rd day its really not a good thing," she said. "But I'm still holding out hope that Ishmyel is coming back home."

Naome Gervais said she hasn't eaten or slept since her son disappeared. She said she won't until he is back in her arms.

Over the weekend police went door to door and searched vacant homes in the surrounding neighborhoods. Family members and friends did their part and handed out fliers with the boy's picture.

"I just want to relay to him that he's not in trouble," said Gervais. "We just want him to come back home because we all miss him."

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Jean is asked to contact North Miami Police at 305-891-0294 ext. 23228 or Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS.
