First Picture Of Recovering Jack The Cat

NEW YORK (CBSMiami) – The South Florida woman who played a big part in drawing attention to Jack the Cat, lost at New York's Kennedy Airport, is thrilled Jack has been found and has released the first picture of Jack receiving medical treatment at a veterinary hospital.

Mary Beth Melchior is the sister of Jack's owner, Karen Pascoe. Pascoe was flying out of Kennedy Airport on August 25th when Jack escaped from his cat kennel and simply vanished.

Annoyed with American Airlines initial lack of response to find Jack, Melchior created a Facebook page to help find him. The page went viral and attracted more than 15,000 friends.

Tuesday night, after missing for 61 days, Jack suddenly fell through a ceiling tile at the airport.

Jack is being treated for some health issues after going without food and water for so long.

Dr. Matthew Cooper told the New York Post that he has a feeding tube and is getting fluids through an IV but feeding is the most important thing.

Pascoe told the Post that Jack will eventually go back to California with her, but that she won't fly him cargo. She said he'll fly in a seat with her, probably in first class. She doesn't plan on letting him out of her sight.

Once he gets home, he'll have a new friend. Pascoe adopted another cat, Milly, to cheer up Jack's companion Barry.
