Local Artist Targets Wall Street

MIAMI (CBSMiami.com) – The Occupy Wall Street Movement has inspired protests and activists worldwide, including a local artist who is using his talents and a massive canvas to send a message to all Wall Street Bankers.

"The whole situation with Wall Street and New York started and then is has gone global and that really inspired me," the artist called "Above" told CBS4's Jorge Estevez.

Above painted a 255-ft wide, 11-ft tall mural along Interstate 95 near the Wynwood Arts District.

The mural reads, "Give a Wall Street banker enough rope and he will hang himself." To reinforce his message, Above added a mannequin dressed like banker hanging from a telephone wire.

The imagery is catching the eyes of thousands of people who pass right by the area on any given day. It's also caught the attention of the organization "Primary Flight" in Wynwood which helps artists in Wynwood to send their message to the masses.

"It is about the artwork and getting your message out to the public," said Chris Oh of Primary Flight.

For Above, his message is that he is shocked by the state of the U.S. economy and hopes his message is just as shocking for people, even those who disagree with his cause.

"Everyone is valid to their own opinion," Above said. "I am just voicing mine."
