Cutler Ridge (CBSMiami) – A southwest Miami-Dade teen was hospitalized after he was shot in the chest Sunday afternoon.

The 18-year old’s mother, Lisa Williams, said it happened in front of their apartment complex at SW 216th Street and 108th Avenue. She said she heard gunfire and ran outside to find out what had happened. Williams said she heard two stories.

“He was standing out here and this boy came up and shot him in the chest. He claims the boy was playing with the gun but I don’t think he was playing with the gun,” said Williams.

Williams said she believes the person who shot her son Robert was the same person he had gotten into a fight with earlier in the day.

Robert Williams was airlifted to the hospital where he underwent emergency surgery.

Just another nice sunny day in Dade County.

This city’s absurd. A note to city officials: instead of planting palm trees in medians and naming streets after people no one ever heard of, how about you focus on cleaning up these streets. Deport gang members to their native countries, confiscate guns, clean this city up. It used to be a nice place many many years ago. Now it’s nothing but a dumping ground for walking garbage. Get on it.
