Miami Woman Injured In Bali Making Her Way Home

MIAMI (CBSMiami) - A South Florida woman badly injured on a trip overseas is headed back to Miami to recover.

Zena Friedman is scheduled to land in Orlando Thursday night, and will then be driven to Jackson Memorial Hospital.

Friedman was on vacation in Bali with her sister when she was hit by a taxi. The taxi fled the scene.

She suffered 11 crushed ribs, a broken shoulder, a broken collar bone, a concussion, a spleen removal, a collapsed lung, and had to have a shoulder replaced.

Friedman's co-workers at M Salon in Coconut Grove raised money to have her airlifted to Malaysia for emergency surgery.

After hearing of her plight, the owner of a medical transport service offered to fly Friedman back to the states for free in a self contained ICU unit. A trauma surgeon also donated her time to monitor Friedman in flight.

Neighbors 4 Neighbors is accepting donations to go toward Friedman's medical care. Donations are being accepted through the N4N Family Fund by calling 305-597-4404 or visiting this web site. Make sure to designate "Family Fund" as the program and put "Zena Freidman" in the "on behalf of" field.
