Former ICE Chief Out On Bail In Child Porn Case

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – The former head of Immigration and Customs Enforcement in South Florida was released from a Miami-Dade Federal Detention facilty early Monday evening after posting a $75,000 bond.

Anthony Mangione, 50, was arrested last month and charged with transportation, receipt and possession of child pornography.

As conditions of his pre-trial release, he must undergo electronic monitoring, have no internet access and obey a curfew of 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.

Last week Mangione underwent a mental examination on the judge's orders to determine if he was at risk of harming himself if released on bail.

Mangione was charged in September after child pornography images were allegedly found on Mangione's home computer in Parkland during a search in April.

Mangione has pleaded not guilty. If convicted, he could get up to 20 years in prison.

CBS4 has learned that Mangione has submitted the necessary papers to retire, meaning no matter how the case ends up, he will never return to ICE.
