Dade Man Pistol Whipped During Home Invasion

MIAMI-DADE (CBSMiami) – Two masked home invasion robbers reportedly pistol whipped a man and sexually assaulted a woman before making off with an undisclosed amount of cash early Wednesday morning.

According to Miami-Dade police spokesman Det. Alvaro Zabaleta the two men, who wore the white face ghost masks from the movie Scream, got into a home in the area of NW 25th Avenue and 93rd Street and demanded cash and valuables from the two people inside; a 65-year old man and 35-year old woman.

The robbers then ordered the woman to duct tape the man's hands together.

"They ordered the two victims, or at least the female victim, the 35-year old white female, ordered her to tie the second victim, a 65-year old white male, with duct tape," said Zabaleta.  "Once she complied with their demands they proceeded to sexually assault her."

Along with cash and valuables, police said the men stole a gun that was in the home.

The man was taken to North Shore Medical Center where he was treated for his injuries. The woman was taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital's rape treatment center.

"To do this to a 65-year old man, to sexually assault a 35-year old female, we're taking this incident very seriously," said Zabaleta.

Neighbor Margaret Berry said she can't believe something like has happened.

"I wanted to cry, he's too good of a friend to me," said Berry.  "I've been here seven years and that man never hurt nobody."

A neighbor, who did not want to be identified, said he noticed suspicious activity in the neighborhood last night.

"About three in the morning, I seen three guys and called my neighbor and walked out there and the guys took off, got in the vehicle and took off."

Police have not released a description of the men but did say they were considered armed and dangerous.
