FAU Looks To Tame Mean Green

DENTON, Texas (CBSMiami.com) – The only winless major college football team left in the state of Florida is not giving their head coach much of a swan song in his final season.

The Florida Atlantic Owls will try to finally notch their first win of the season when they visit Denton, Texas Saturday to take on the North Texas Mean Green.

But when it comes to offense, you might not want to watch the FAU vs. North Texas game because both schools are horrendous when they have the ball.

Florida Atlantic is ranked next-to-last in the country in scoring offense, averaging just 12.8 points per game. But North Texas isn't much better, ranking 110th in the country by averaging just 17.4 points per game.

The teams aren't much better defensively. Florida Atlantic gives up 38 points per game while North Texas surrenders 38.4 points per game.

So, as FAU looks to right the ship, they face an absolutely dreadful defense with a bad offense, which also applies to North Texas.

The Mean Green does have a victory this season, upsetting the Big Ten's Indiana Hoosiers two weeks ago.

Florida Atlantic came close last weekend with a 37-34 loss to Louisiana-Lafayette, and look to build on a second-half rally against the Ragin' Cajuns.

The game has a kickoff time of 7:30 p.m. and can be seen on espn3.com.
