Miami Loses To Browns In Cleveland

CLEVELAND (CBS4/AP) – Hoping for a win on the road, the Miami Dolphins are now 0-3 after a close loss of 17-16 to the Cleveland Browns.

On Sunday, the Dolphins faced off against the Browns (1-1) who were eager to make their own home repairs after a disastrous loss to Cincinnati in the opener.

Colt McCoy saved his best moments for last.

McCoy threw a 14-yard touchdown pass to Mohamed Massaquoi with 43 seconds left, capping an 80-yard drive in the final minutes to rally the Cleveland Browns to a 17-16 win Sunday over winless Miami, a loss that will bring even more heat on embattled Dolphins coach Tony Sparano.

McCoy completed nine of 13 passes for all 80 yards on Cleveland's final drive, making up for an otherwise lackluster and inaccurate performance. On third-and-5, McCoy pump faked before lofting a perfect pass to the right corner over rookie cornerback Jimmy Wilson to a leaping Massaquoi.

The Browns (2-1) then withstood a late comeback attempt as safety Mike Adams intercepted Chad Henne with 13 seconds left.

Miami's loss on the road was usual for them. Last season, the Dolphins went 1-7 at home and 6-2 in road games, becoming the first team since the league expanded the schedule to 16 games in 1978 to go 1-7 or worse at home and have a winning record on the road.

Coming off consecutive 7-9 seasons, Miami's fan base has grown restless with the mediocrity.

Sparano's team that went 11-5 and won AFC title in his first season in 2008 seems light years ago and he needs some wins to restore confidence. With road games at San Diego and the New York Jets sandwiched around their bye week, there's a sense of urgency for these Dolphins.
