114 Cats Taken From W Hialeah Woman's Home

MIAMI (CBS4) – Dozens of cats seized from the home of a West Hialeah hoarder are up for adoption at Miami-Dade's Animal Services shelter in Medley.

Last Thursday, the woman showed up at the shelter and said she wanted to surrender 20 cats. When investigators questioned her, she woman admitted that she had more than 100 cats in her two-bedroom town house. Officials said they went to the residence and found 114 cats in varying degrees of health.

More than 60 were up for adoption by that afternoon. A rescue group from Venice arranged to take nearly two dozen. Some had to be euthanized.

CBS4 news partner the Miami Herald reported the woman will not face animal cruelty charges because she surrendered the animals voluntarily.
