Boil Water Order Issued For Parts Of Hialeah

HIALEAH (CBS4) – A precautionary boil water order has been issued for parts of Hialeah after a contractor punctured a 54-inch water main.

It happened on Red Road and West 60th Street in Hialeah. Water service was shut down to the area to make repairs but has since been restored.

Even though water service is back, the boil water order remains in effect for these areas: West 84th Street (also known as Northwest 138th Street) to the North, Okeechobee Road to the South, from Red Road to West 36th Avenue (also known as Northwest 97th Avenue).

The boil water order means all water used for drinking or cooking purposes should be boiled until further notice prior to consumption. Water should be brought to a full rolling boil for at least one minute. There is no problem with using the water for bathing and other household needs.

The Miami-Dade Water and Sewer Department will be sampling the water. Once all tests are cleared, the boil water restrictions will be lifted.

For more information, call the Miami-Dade Water and Sewer Department's Communications Center at (305) 274-9272, 24 hours a day.
