Uncle Luke Sues Nevin Shapiro

MIAMI (CBSMiami.com) – Nevin Shapiro has rocked the University of Miami's football program to its core, but his claim against the man known in the 1980's as "Uncle Luke" may have gotten him into more legal hot water.

Former 2 Live Crew frontman and Miami mayoral candidate Luther Campbell has sued Shapiro saying the former UM booster "slandered and defamed" Campbell.

The case was filed by Campbell's attorney, Michael J. Carney, in Miami-Dade Circuit Court Tuesday, according to CBS4 news partner the Miami Herald.

According to the Herald, Campbell was upset about a quote Shapiro gave that insinuated that Campbell was the first "uncle who took care of players before I got going…and someone needed to pick up that mantle. He was Uncle Luke and I was Little Luke."

Campbell has been a long-time supporter of the University of Miami program.
