Family, Police Seek Shooter Who Killed Man Outside Mall

DORAL (CBS4)-A South Florida family is asking for the public's help in finding the person who shot a father of four last week outside the 163rd Street mall in North Miami Beach.

Police said the shooting may have been an act of road rage as Octavio Marquez was shot to death in the middle of the street at the 1200 Block of NE 163rd Street during rush hour traffic.

Sarah Marquez, the man's 15-year-old daughter, said

"He wasn't just good, he was extraordinary," she said. "He was spectacular, even in the worst of times he would make us laugh because he never liked us to be sad."

Marquez was shot on September 14 at approximately 4:40 p.m. while he was in the middle of the street. According to police, he was standing at the back of his car when the shooter fired at him.

The family said Marquez was at the heart of their family.

"He was a big person, a big man," his wife Emilia Marquez said.

The family said they want answers.

"They don't know what they did," Marquez's sister Zoila Marquez said. "They've destroyed a family."

Police have surveillance video of a dark colored SUV driving away, and are continuing to investigate.

Zoila Marquez pleaded to the public asking anyone with information to come forward.

Anyone with information is asked to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS.
