Cooper City Children Pulled From Pool Die From Injuries

COOPER CITY (CBS4) – Two Cooper City children who fell into a backyard pool eight days ago have died from their injuries.

Shortly before 10:00 a.m. on September 9th, Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue units were sent to a home at 10721 London St. after 2-year-old Kane Walter and 1-year-old Rhyle Rodriguez both fell into the family pool.

When fire rescue arrived, neither child reportedly had a pulse.  Paramedics were able to revive them, but their conditions did not improve while in critical condition at the Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital in Hollywood.

Kane Walter died on September 16, Rhyle Rodriguez died the following day.

BSO homicide detectives and the Special Victim’s Unit are conducting an investigation into the circumstances of the double drowning. The grandmother of Kane Walter was babysitting both children at the time.

It is unknown how long the children were underwater.

An absolutely tragic situation. My thoughts are with the family… but I cannot stop thinking of this poor grandmother and what she must be going through, and the guilt that she’s living through. It must seem like the end of the world right now. Babies jump in to water so fast.. my daughter jumped into a pool last month and the panic is still with me that I felt for those momehts. Please grandma.. find some peace within yourself when the time is right, and understand that it could happen to any of us. I’ll be thinking of the family, but especially of you.
