Missoni Madness Crashes Target Website

MIAMI (CBS4) – Missoni madness apparently caused a meltdown of Target's website Tuesday when the discount retailer launched its highly anticipated designer collection Missoni for Target.

So many eager shoppers tried to access the Target.com site to buy the retro, zigzag-striped knitwear that the site crashed.

Many fashion mavens have been waiting for the designer collection for months including South Miami boutique owner Jenna Kaplan. Kaplan was up at 6:00 a.m. buying items on-line then drove to the Dadeland Station Target to wait in line and buy even more. The lines were so long, they resembled Black Friday lines, when deep discounts draw shoppers to stores on the day after Thanksgiving.

The Missoni collection is the mass retailer's biggest partnership yet. It has more than 400 pieces ranging from $3 to $600. In addition to clothes and shoes, there's also home décor, luggage and children's clothing.

Launched in 1953, Missoni is an Italian fashion house known for its varied colors and fabrics, and for its knitwear.
